Categories of Restriction
Banned:
A banned player is banned until they appeal on the forum. If a player is unwilling to take that step to try to appeal it they don't care much obviously. Bans are issued as a last resort, when all else fails and damage is just too significant to be able to let go.
Permabanned:
Players that are permabanned are that status for a good reason. A permabanned player has displayed significantly poor conduct, involving threats or actual participation in attempts to attack the server itself. Some are permabanned for relation to these people and a poor attitude. Not all permabanned people probably totally deserve it, but they probably shouldn't expect to be playing here. They are absolutely free to attempt to appeal their situation, but it isn't an easy fight. Do not get a critical violation and keep yourself as far away from people known to participate in such behavior. There are two categories here really; ones that were verified as malicious people and others that have reasonable suspicion. Reasonable suspicion is beyond heresay, it is where several people, if not a dozen or more, have made their own statements about you supporting accusation.
DNR:
A player on the Do Not Rank list should consider themselves ineligible for play until they appeal their reason for not being Do Not Ranked. Some situations could call for a temporary wipe or two long DNR status, but most cases should be treated like a Ban - just being banned from that rank. Someone added to the DNR list should also be specified on what rank they were bad in, what faults they had and strengths. It is entirely possible someone is bad at one rank but good at another. In extreme situations a player may find themselves DNR (ALL). Anyone who has any form of DNR status can not be an administrator.
Steps of Enforcement
The basic scenario here is that someone just messed up. They did something against the rules or were doing something otherwise disruptive. A specific method to approach these situations does exist. There is a method of weighing the situation and grading it into different categories of Petty, Minor, Standard, Serious, and Critical violation levels. The categorization of each offense relies heavily on working to the goals of keeping the game fun and fair. This system should help encourage players and administrators alike to work together to solve problems.
Weighing the Damage:
The overall damage caused by the one up to shenanigans is weighed into the scenario. If you wrong someone and it turns out that it is a quick fix and we can try talking to both of you to make sure everyone's happy, we'll always be happy to run that path too. If you cause dramatic amounts of damage, even by accident, that has an incredibly large and irreparable effect on others then you may still yet be facing enforcement procedure.
Petty Violations: Petty violations carry no consequence beyond solving some issues. They suggest that the one who violated the rule and all those effected were mature and respectable about fixing it. The ones victimized don't feel victimized and desire to help the other player learn, whereas the one who violated is willing to listen.
Minor Violations: A Minor Violation is one where some damage was done that could not be ignored. An example here could be that a player recycled another player's drills non RPly, stole a safe and hid it. The recycled drills and resources can all be accounted for and replaced, but the safe would be hidden and beyond help. The player who robbed claims that the safe went missing and he doesn't know where it is, admins cannot locate it. In this scenario some damage was able to be repaired while other damage could not be repaired. The player also didn't take total accountability for their actions, but is willing to listen and learn. The person robbed just wants things fixed, but doesn't want the guy punished if he's willing to listen. If he's being an asshole about it, or the player who was wronged feels that a warning alone is not okay, this becomes a Standard Violation.
Standard Violations: In a situation where damage was so significant that the offended person desires we make it clear behavior such as that will not fly or a situation where the person we are attempting to teach to behave better is entirely resistant to our attempt at peace, a ban is acceptable. All bans must be appealed on the forums before being lifted, as this helps sort people who care enough to actually go appeal to come back and play. Honestly all we want is to make sure you know the reasons why you were banned and to have you be mature about it at this phase.
Serious Violations: If a player is obviously trolling and is out to try to make people angry, the offended party has significant damage and the offender has zero intention of taking responsibility for his actions, enforcement with a ban and also being added to the DNR list will happen. For those of you curious, DNR also suggests you cannot be an administrator either. You may appeal DNR in a separate appeal section than a Ban Appeal.
Critical Violations: A Critical Violation suggests that the person involved was so aggressive that they threatened you or the server's existence. Threatening to initiate a DDoS (Cyber Terrorism), a person's life (Cyber Terrorism), or to teach players how to ban evade unless they get unbanned all qualifies as good examples of this. If a player attempts this at all it is worth noting that we should NOT tolerate such behavior. Please notice, insults that aren't actual death threats or threats against the people, server, and the like do not count as a Critical Violation. Critical Violations should be met with a swift ban and post in our admin chat about it. Those guys get to be permabanned. Please also note that excessive flaming against anyone, staff or player, will be presented with a warning to cease. If you ignore this and continue trying to turn the burn up on people and be obnoxious, your ability to speak in OOC will be taken from you for a period of time. Instead of expressing your frustrations with slander, express them with effective wording so we can help you solve issues.
