Hi, so I've been playing for a little over a week now, having made a char, RPed consistently and having attempted to engage as much as possible with events and the likes. As far as a first gen character goes, I've done really well, obtaining pretty good stats and BP to the extent that I'm ahead of a lot of the people I started with.
But I've found the mating system quite frustrating at times.
Yes, its a great way for people allowing players to catch up to later generation characters and encourage new players coming in, and for the most part I've seen it work SORT OF well.
But in a number of other cases, I've found it demotivating me.
1) I see players lingering in OOC, asking to get mated in constantly otherwise they won't play. It frustrates me to think that this system impedes new players coming in unless they get what they want.
2) In a lot of cases, it can be quite unfair. The enormous stats they're born with, or stat growth(I'm unfamiliar with which it is, or if they get both) is reflected in a lot of babies. I've played for an entire week and invested a lot of time into buffing up my stats, but I've witnessed a newborn with greater stats than my own that obtained them in a single day. Yes, there is a BP wall...But in no time at all that dissapears with age and the divide in stats makes it outrageous for new players who DON'T get brought in through the mating system.
Perhaps to see to some balancing things, the contacts tab could have a use in mating, to avoid players OOCly running up to each other and doing it. Chars will have to have known each other for some time, which will reduce those newborn rates down so that they're more geared around IC.
A slight advantage when starting should exist, perhaps giving them a day or two headstart on new chars(But it shouldn't stretch this). Finally, the stat growths shoulder NEVER dwarf first gen characters. Perhaps OLDER CHARACTERS, but not new players who start and can't get a hold of a second generation. They should never be left in the dust.
TLDR;
I'm here to play the game for the sake of RP, not to be flexing on people. But I can't quite understand why all my hard work vanishes when a new character is made who can surpass me by AFK medding and training in a day.
Yes, I like the mating system. Yes, it should help people catch up that bit faster. But it shouldn't make players not want to play unless they get mated in, it shouldn't give an outrageous head start that dwarfs players who don't beg to get mated in or are unlucky enough to have to tackle it on their own.
Honestly, first gens should never suck this hard, otherwise who wouldn't want to be a second gen and who would even bother playing unless they get one?
